Carbon Monoxide Formation Danger, Broken Vital Organ Function

Carbon Monoxide Formation Danger, Broken Vital Organ Function

Just a few days ago, the virtual universe was broadcast by a map of NASA's satellite that shows a wide range of carbon monoxide (CO) with high concentration over the Indonesian region.

Carbon monoxide itself is a dangerous toxic gas. CO exposure can inhibit oxygen supply to vital organs, especially brains and hearts. In some cases, CO exposure could trigger organ damage to the death.

The thing is, the CO gas is uncolored and smelly. As a result, the existence of CO gas is hard to spot without the detection device, as NASA found.

Filling out the book of WHO Guidelines for Indoor Air Quality: Selection Pollutants, accidentally inhaled CO gas will enter the lungs.

From there, the CO gas will lower its blood ability to transport oxygen and inhibit oxygen release to the tissue. Whereas, some vital organs, such as the brain and the heart, require oxygen to function maximum. This is where the dangers of exposure of carbon monoxide appear.

Brain function slowly decreases. At first, it just began to drop energy. But, if oxygen deficiency is severe, nerve cells can suffer damage until they trigger a loss of consciousness to death in fatal cases.

The same goes for the heart. The CO's gas can interfere with the function of the cell and the heart muscle directly. People with heart history are more vulnerable to CO gas exposure.

In fatal cases, these conditions could trigger a heart attack or a heart stop.

The symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning alone depend on the concentration of CO in the air, long exposure, and medical history of people exposed.

Collecting the Center for Disease and Prevention Control, there are at least some early symptoms to be aware of. Here's one:

- Headaches, - dizziness and limp,

While on more serious symptoms, exposure to CO gas could lead to the following:

- asphyxiation, - chest pain or heart pounding, - confusion, - Vision disorder,

Ask for medical attention immediately if there are any symptoms upstairs.
