Metal Object Resembling a Dome Found Again in a Palm Oil Plantation in Kotim, Central Kalimantan
A large metal object has been found in a palm oil plantation in East Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan. The object has caught the attention of local residents.
A fairly large metal object has once again been found in the middle of a palm oil plantation owned by PT Agro Bukit, at Kilometre 26, East Kotawaringin Regency (Kotim), Central Kalimantan. The pale yellow object caught the attention of local residents because it resembled a dome and featured cables and a number of metal components.
As reported by detikKalimantan on Tuesday (20 October 2026), the object was found today. The discovery prompted plantation workers to flock to the site to see it for themselves. A number of residents were seen recording the object on their mobile phones, whilst others tried to guess its origin.
In a video circulating online, residents can be heard discussing the large number of people gathered around the site. Speculation that the object is part of an aircraft arose because a number of cables could still be seen attached to the metal parts.
“This morning we saw what might be the wreckage of an aeroplane, because these cables are still there…” said another resident.
The object has a curved surface resembling a dome or a semicircle. In some parts, rows of rivets can be seen still attached. The object was found lying amongst scattered oil palm fronds.
This latest discovery has heightened residents’ concern following earlier reports of a loud bang accompanied by a rumble from the sky in the Kotim area on Sunday (18 October) afternoon. A day later, on Monday (19 October), residents also found a fairly large piece of metal in the same area, believed to be part of a rocket’s liquid fuel tank.
In response to these discoveries, the 102nd Military District Command (Korem) 102/Panju Panjung confirmed it had received the information. The command has deployed personnel to monitor the situation at the site.
“That is correct. We have been monitoring this information. Personnel have now been deployed to the site,” said Major Andry Suwiatmojo, Intelligence Officer at Korem 102/Panju Panjung, when contacted on Tuesday (20 October).
