Borussia Mönchengladbach also loses against Hoffenheim: Zero points, change of coach without effect
With the new coach Alexander Blessin everything should be better in Mönchengladbach. Now there was the second defeat under him, this time against the table penultimate TSG Hoffenheim. The situation is threatening.
Mönchengladbachs Wael Mohya: member of a crisis force
Borussia Mönchengladbach has also lost the crisis summit against TSG Hoffenheim and made a historic Bundesliga misstart. At the home premiere of coach Alexander Blessin, the tail light was 1:2 (0:1). Six defeats at the start of the season had previously only the VfL Bochum (2022/2023), the FSV Mainz 05 (2020/2021) and Fortuna Düsseldorf (1991/1992) conceded.
New internationals Bambasé Conté (11th minute) and Alexander Prass (54th) met for the guests who stopped their negative trend. For Hoffenheim it was the first victory after four competitive defeats in series, in the table the TSG climbed from 17th to 14th place. The pointless Gladbachers, for whom the teenager Wael Mohya scored the meanwhile 1:1 (49th), now separate five points from the new penultimate Union Berlin.
After the Derbyn defeat at 1 FC Cologne and the long list of injured (including captain Tim Kleindienst), Blessin was optimistic before his first appearance in Borussia Park. He sees “many good, positive things, because I see the boys every day in training.” And that gives me courage and hope for the next games, said the successor of Eugen Polanski. But: “We all know that at some point the points have to come.”
Coach Blessin: two games, two defeats
Borussia initially tried, but remained too inaccurate in the passing game and invited the more dangerous Hoffenheimers with reckless mistakes to chances. After Fisnik Asllani had hit the bar by free kick (42.), the fans demanded more fight and said goodbye to their team with whistles in the break.
After the change of sides Mohyas Schlenzer briefly provided hope, but only five minutes later Prass dampened the mood again. Subsequently, goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas prevented the early decision with two parades against Adam Hlozek (59th, 63rd).
The next chance for the first win of the season is for Gladbach next Friday in the away game at VfB Stuttgart (20.30 am).
