Indonesia requires an investment of about Rp 13,000 trillion in the 2025- 2029 period to pursue an 8% target of economic growth in 2029. This investment needs an opportunity for national businessmen to engage in partnership with international investors, one of which is China.
The Special Minister of Investment and Hilirization / Chief of BKPM of the National Enhancement and Enhancement of the National Enforcement and Enhancement of Business, Noor Sona Maesana Mushonnif, emphasized the importance of strengthening Indonesian and China's partnership to support the acceleration of economic transformation, hilirization, as well as the increase of national entrepreneurship capacity.
"Indonesia and China have a great opportunity to build mutually corroborating partnerships. This partnership needs to be directed not only to increase the value of investment, but also to create additional value in the country, to strengthen the national industry, and to open up more opportunities for Indonesian entrepreneurs to grow together," Sona's advice in writing, Tuesday (20 / 10 / 2026).
It explains that Indonesia and China's economic connections have evolved through cooperation in different sectors, including mineral processing, battery chains, electric vehicles, and manufacturing. Chinese cumulative investment value in Indonesia in the 2021-2025 period recorded at about US $34.44 billion.
Both countries are rated potentially to expand into renewable energy sectors, digital economies, health, food resistance, and agricultural plantations, fisheries and ocean. The development of these sectors needs to be accompanied by an effort to strengthen the national venture's involvement in the supply chain.
In his line of work, Sona insists that an accelerant of hilirization needs to run along with the increased capacity of national entrepreneurs. They're both a very important part of building a powerful venture ecosystem and ensuring that investment benefits can be felt more widely by domestic economists.
"I want to emphasize the importance of opening access to national entrepreneurs and UMKM to become industrial suppliers. That opportunity can begin from goods, maintenance services, logistics, to production components. Big companies need to explain the standard necessary, while local suppliers need to be accompanied to be able to fulfill it," obviously.
According to Sona, sustainable industrial partnerships require a clear business relationship, the quality increase of local suppliers, as well as the development of labor skills that suit industrial needs. Thus, investment not only presents capital and technology, but also helps strengthen industry skills and national business users.
He also emphasized that strengthening Indonesian and Chinese relationships needed to be built on the principles of equality, respect, and mutual benefits. The collaboration of both countries is expected not to stop at the realization of investments, but it's evolved into long-term partnerships that support inclusive economic development and growth.
"Indonesia and China's relationships have a huge space to continue to strengthen. By connecting investments, technology, industrial needs, and the capacity of national entrepreneurs, we want to make sure that this partnership benefits both countries as well as supports the transformation of the Indonesian economy," the close of Sona.
