20 October Protest in Jakarta: Here is the List of Alternative Routes That Have Been Prepared

The Traffic Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police has prepared alternative routes for road users to avoid traffic congestion caused by the demonstration marking the second anniversary of Prabowo and Gibran’s election on Tuesday (20 October) today.

The Director of Traffic for the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Firman Darmansyah, said that heavy traffic is expected around the Monas area, along Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin and near the DPR/MPR building.

Consequently, the public and road users are advised to avoid these three areas whilst the demonstration is taking place.

“In connection with the protest rally on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, from 10.00 WIE until it concludes, the public is advised to anticipate congestion and traffic diversions around the Monas area, Sudirman-Thamrin Road, Sudirman-Thamrin, and the MPR/DPR RI Building in Central Jakarta,” he told reporters.

“Road users are advised to adjust their departure times, use alternative routes, and avoid these areas unless they have a specific reason to be there,” he added.

Meanwhile, regarding traffic management around the demonstration, Firman stated that it would be implemented on a situational basis. This means that its implementation will depend on the situation and conditions on the ground.

“Traffic management measures will be implemented on a case-by-case basis according to conditions on the ground. Please observe traffic rules and follow officers’ instructions to ensure a smooth journey for everyone,” he said.

Information regarding alternative routes available to the public during the demonstration has also been posted on the Instagram account @tmcpolda.

- From the Semanggi Junction: 1. Jalan Sudirman; 2. Jalan Benhil; 3. Jalan Pejompongan; 4. Jalan Letjen S. Parman. - From Jalan Gatot Subroto: 1. Jalan Gerbang Pemuda; 2. Patal Senayan Road3. Tentara Pelajar Road4. Letjen S. Parman Road
