Golkar West Java Sees Its 62nd Anniversary as an Opportunity to Strengthen Its Commitment to Public Service and Generational Renewal

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG — The West Java branch of the Golkar Party has used the commemoration of its 62nd anniversary as an opportunity to strengthen its commitment to serving the community whilst also promoting the regeneration of its cadres. It is hoped that the modest nature of this year’s celebrations will not diminish the party’s commitment to championing the welfare of the community.

This message was emphasised during a pilgrimage, flower-laying ceremony and joint prayer at the Cikutra Heroes’ Cemetery (TMP) in Bandung on Tuesday (20 October 2026). These activities served as a tribute to the heroes’ sacrifices whilst also providing a space for party members to reflect on carrying forward the spirit of struggle through concrete action.

Ahmad Hidayat, Secretary of the West Java Regional Chapter of the Golkar Party, stated that this year’s anniversary celebration was held in a simple manner as a sign of concern for the public’s economic situation.

According to him, this simplicity should serve as a reminder for party members to further increase their contributions, particularly those serving in the legislative and executive branches.

“All Golkar members, whether serving in the legislature or the executive, must do their utmost to improve the community’s economic situation,” he said.

Ahmad explained that the visit to the Cikutra Heroes’ Cemetery is an annual routine to commemorate the services of the heroes, including figures who have contributed to the history of the Golkar Party.

He hopes that the momentum of the 62nd anniversary will strengthen the spirit of service whilst opening up broader opportunities for the younger generation to contribute to the party’s development.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the West Java Regional Executive of the Golkar Party’s Youth Wing (AMPG), Ariansyah Eka Saputra, believes that generational renewal is one of the key challenges in ensuring the organisation’s sustainability.

According to him, internal consolidation must go hand in hand with leadership development so that the party can adapt to the changing times and prepare future leaders.

“We hope that the Golkar Party will always provide opportunities for young people to contribute to the party,” said Ariansyah.

He emphasised that consolidation forms the foundation of the organisation, whilst leadership development plays a vital role in ensuring the party’s continued existence.

“For us, consolidation is indeed key, but leadership development is the challenge that ensures an organisation or party remains viable,” he said.

The pilgrimage was attended by officials from the West Java Regional Chapter of the Golkar Party, members of the Golkar Party faction in the West Java Regional Parliament, founding organisations such as Kosgoro, Soksi and MKGR, as well as organisations established by the party and its various wings.
