RI Investment Reaches Rp528.7 Trillion, Absorbs 745 Thousand Workers

BKPM reports that Indonesia's investment realization reached Rp 528.7 trillion in the third quarter of 2026, growing 7.6% year-on-year, with an absorption of 745,634 workers.

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Bureau of Investment Coordination (BKPM) announced that Indonesia's investment realization surpassed Rp 528.7 trillion in the third quarter of 2026.

This figure represents a 7.6% year-on-year growth. The investment realization in the third quarter of 2026 is higher compared to the achievement in the first quarter of 2026 of Rp 498.79 trillion and the second quarter of 2026 of Rp 511.8 trillion.

The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Bureau of Investment Coordination (BKPM) reported that Indonesia's labor absorption reached 745,634 individuals in the third quarter of 2026.

This job absorption coincides with the investment realization that reached Rp 528.7 trillion in the third quarter of 2026. In this regard, the labor absorption figure increased by 7.06% year-on-year compared to 696,478 in the same period last year.

Overall, Indonesia's total labor absorption reached 2.19 million people from January to September 2026. This absorption occurred alongside an investment realization of Rp 1,539.2 trillion from January to September 2026. However, the government did not detail extensively the subsectors or investment projects with the highest labor absorption.

"The total labor absorption reached 2,194,496 individuals," said the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Bureau of Investment Coordination (BKPM) Rosan Perkasa Rueslani at a press conference, quoted on Tuesday (20/10/2026).

On the other hand, Rosan mentioned that there are five subsectors with the largest domestic and foreign investment realization throughout the year.

For instance, the basic metal industry, metal goods, not machinery and equipment accounted for Rp 269.2 trillion; other services such as data centers and others amounted to Rp 195.7 trillion; transportation, warehouses, and telecommunications reached Rp 154.4 trillion. Furthermore, mining accounted for Rp 143.7 trillion; and housing, industrial areas, and offices totaled Rp 120.4 trillion.
