Left, Green, SPD: Berlin exploratory paper without measure and middle

In the soundings for a red-green-red senate in Berlin, the Left Party has largely prevailed. The result is like advertising for the CDU.

Left, Green, SPD: Berlin exploratory paper without measure and middle

From the result of the election to the House of Representatives, the Berlin CDU can derive no claims with the best will. The election has resulted in a majority for a left-wing coalition, as it seems since the presentation of the exploratory result at the weekend. But if you look at what is in the paper, you hear what has been declared by the protagonists of the Left Party, Greens and SPD and what remained unsaid, then you will hardly be able to do otherwise than agree with the CDU top candidate Evers: If this coalition comes about, then it would really be a shift of the coordinates towards the extremes. Anti-Semitism in secondary sentences This shows, as much as the left-chairman and aspirant for the office of the Governing Mayor wanted to see it dismissed in secondary sentences, especially on the question of anti-Semitism. Elif Eralp has asserted in accordance with the wording in the exploratory paper and made a “promise of protection” for Jewish people. But how seriously the presumptive coalitionists take the problem is already shown in the incidental sentence, which follows without transition, according to which Palestinians in Berlin also engage in racism that they want to fight. Seriously, is that supposed to be side by side? Anyone who sees this as such should make a comparative attempt to go through, say, Wilmersdorf with Palestinian cloth and then through Neukölln with Kippa and Star of David. The central theme of the Left Party is the expropriation of housing groups. If you look at this critically, it is not due to crocodile tears that would be shed for investors. The problem is that with such measures enormous sums of public funds (where should they come from in Berlin?) are tied up without a single apartment being built new. On the contrary, investors are effectively deterred with this and with the rhetoric of the public prosecutors, as if private renting was a crime per se. No less, but more market logic That the rental level in Berlin, as in some other German cities, is a huge problem, is beyond question. Public housing can contribute to the solution, but without private investment and – yes – market logic, the shortage will not be remedied. With the expropriation, the left has prevailed in the soundings against different positions of the Greens and Social Democrats. They are to receive bicycle roads and other econics in exchange as well as – yes, what? A project for another majority elsewhere? It is curious that the Left Party, despite its provisional success in the negotiations, now wants to take two weeks before it even decides to start coalition negotiations. Time should be used. The CDU may not be able to derive a self-evident claim from the election, but everything that has happened and emerged since then shows an urgent need for moderation and middle.

Strasbourg - European Parliament strengthens rights of travellers

In the EU, the rights of travellers are to be strengthened. In Strasbourg, the European Parliament voted for a law that also obliges third-party providers to reimburse costs in the event of travel cancellations. Any mediation fees incurred must therefore also be repaid.
