Infrastructure PROBLEM RI: Unauthorized District Road · Global Voices

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Territory Development Coordinators revealed a number of infrastructure issues in Indonesia. The issue includes areas, dams, and irrigation projects.

The Deputy Field Coordinator of the Infrastructure Base of the Ministry of Inframidis Nazib Faizal says, various infrastructure that has been built has not yet profited optimal because it has not been integrated. As a result, the infrastructure that's been built hasn't been fully utilized by society.

"The root of the problem is often we talk, the discussion with Mr. Menko, so it hasn't been connected yet. The asset stands alone, unconnected as a system," said Nazhib in the Infrastructure Development and Development Configuration Meeting in the PU Ministry, South Jakarta, Tuesday (20 / 10 / 2026).

Nazhib highlighted the conditions of the remaining areas compared to the national streets. The national roadblock level has reached 94%, while the province roads are about 70% and city roads are about 80%.

Meanwhile, the road level of the new district is approximately 50-55%. That is, about 45-50% of the county road is still in a bad state.

"The national road we know of is 94%, the road in the city belongs to the city is approximately 80%. The state road is 70%, the problem is the district road, it's about 50-55%," the announcement.

Nazhib explained that the conditions have not shown the optimum connection between infrastructure built by the central government and the local government. A national road in good condition is not necessarily supported by the region's similar quality.

It also illustrates a number of dams that have not been equipped with irrigation networks so that the water is not fully utilized to irrigate agricultural land. Of the five new dams with the potential service of nearly 40,000 hectares of rice paddies, just about 38.5% of the land is served.

Another issue is the construction of public facilities that have not yet followed the availability of support infrastructure. Nazib is using the construction of a public school that needs to be certain to have access to roads and electricity in order to operate optimistically.
