Up 40-fold, Pangan Nusa Expo 2026 Records Potential Transactions of Rp 5.9 T

Indonesian packaged food and culinary products recorded potential transactions totalling Rp 5.9 trillion at the Pangan Nusa Expo 2026. This potential was achieved through direct transactions, business matching, and agreements on the expansion of the culinary sector overseas.

The Minister for Trade, Budi Santoso (Busan), explained that the Pangan Nusa Expo 2026, held from 14 to 18 October 2026, recorded significant potential transactions compared to the previous year’s event.

This achievement underscores the high competitiveness of local culinary products in penetrating both domestic and international markets.

“Pangan Nusa Expo 2026 successfully recorded potential transactions totalling Rp 5.9 trillion, a 40-fold increase from the potential transactions at the 2025 event. These transaction figures demonstrate that local culinary products are already competitive in the domestic market and are deemed capable of competing in the global market. Furthermore, vigorous innovation and strengthened promotion have also contributed to the surge in potential transaction figures,” said Busan in a written statement on Tuesday (20 October 2026).

The potential transaction value was achieved thanks to cooperation agreements for the overseas expansion of the culinary sector, with a transaction value of Rp 5.9 trillion. These expansion agreements target five countries: the Netherlands, India, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

The business matching sessions successfully generated potential transactions worth Rp 46.85 billion from meetings between local food SMEs and around 50 partner companies, including retail chains, restaurants, and PT KAI Services.

In addition, the exhibition also recorded on-site transactions worth Rp 4.06 billion for the purchase of culinary and packaged food products.

“We hope that the transactions generated at the Pangan Nusa Expo 2026 will be sustainable. Furthermore, the facilitation of promotion, business collaboration and market access expansion carried out at the exhibition can further strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s food and culinary SMEs,” said Busan.

Beyond being an exhibition, the Pangan Nusa Expo 2026 serves as a platform for strengthening the competitiveness of SMEs. A number of activities were organised, including the launch of a programme to provide 4,100 barcodes and the strengthening of branding through the ‘500 Brand Go Global’ programme.

The presentation of the Food SME Award to competitive and innovative processed food products from across the archipelago also took place.

“We are encouraging SMEs to be ready to meet the needs of modern retail, expand their marketing reach, and enhance their competitiveness so that local products can reach a wider market, including the global market,” concluded Busan.

The Pangan Nusa Expo 2026, an exhibition of packaged food and culinary specialities from the country’s 33 provinces, successfully attracted 44,356 visitors from both within and outside the country. The exhibition targeted both domestic and international markets through a business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) approach.
