WIKA REKON Strengthens Maritime Infrastructure Through the BOMC Project in Bintan

PT Wijaya Karya Rekayasa Konstruksi (WIKA REKON) is supporting the development of infrastructure to underpin the maritime sector. This is being achieved through the construction of the Bintan Offshore Marine Centre (BOMC) Wharf Construction Project in the Riau Islands.

The project’s construction was previously marked by a groundbreaking ceremony. The project will meet the need for wharf facilities to support maritime and logistics activities, particularly in the mining, oil and gas, and maritime sectors.

This project also forms part of the development of the BOMC facilities as a high-tech common-user facility. The facility is designed to support a wide range of industrial needs, from manufacturing, fabrication, repair and modification to project logistics.

The provision of adequate port infrastructure is expected to streamline operations and support the needs of an increasingly integrated industrial supply chain.

In this project, WIKA REKON is undertaking the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) scope of work. One of the technical aspects implemented is the use of guide beams in the installation of combi-walls to maintain the position and alignment of structural elements during installation. The application of this method forms part of the efforts to ensure technical precision in the construction of industrial support infrastructure.

“The construction of this facility focuses not only on providing physical infrastructure, but also on supporting industrial operational needs and regional development,” stated the Project Manager in a written statement on Tuesday (20 October 2026).

The development of this facility is expected to strengthen the readiness of industrial support infrastructure in the Bintan region, whilst also supporting the needs of companies operating in the mining, oil and gas, and maritime sectors.

With facilities designed to serve clients in East Asia, BOMC also has the potential to support cross-regional industrial and logistics connectivity.

“Through the construction of the BOMC Wharf Project, WIKA REKON hopes to support the smooth running of maritime and logistics activities in Bintan and contribute to Indonesia’s economic growth,” he concluded.
