Two Years of Prabowo-Gibran: PKS Raises Issues Ranging from Corruption Cases to Academic Qualifications
The PKS hopes there will be zero cases of corruption and food poisoning in the Free Nutritious Meals programme after two years of the Prabowo-Gibran administration.
The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) hopes there will be no further cases of corruption or food poisoning linked to the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) scheme in the future.
This was stated by the PKS Secretary-General, Muhammad Kholid, ahead of the two-year anniversary of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming’s leadership, on Tuesday (20 October) tomorrow.
Kholid noted that the government has achieved a great deal during the first two years of the Prabowo-Gibran administration. Nevertheless, he said there are still some issues that need to be addressed immediately for the benefit of the public.
“As a coalition partner, the Prosperous Justice Party recognises the many achievements made by the government, but there are also several issues that remain to be addressed,” he said at a press conference on Monday (19 October).
He then highlighted the MBG Asta Cita Programme, which was originally intended to ensure that schoolchildren’s nutritional needs were met whilst at school. However, he said, there were still many breaches occurring due to negligence on the part of those implementing the programme on the ground.
“For example, there have been cases of food poisoning. Therefore, in future, there should be zero cases of food poisoning. Zero cases of food poisoning,” he explained.
Furthermore, Kholid also touched upon the continuing existence of corruption cases relating to the procurement process. Consequently, he hopes to see improvements in the governance sector to prevent the misappropriation of state funds.
“We are urging that the ‘Asta Cita’ programme be further improved so that it reaches its intended beneficiaries; governance must be even better, and there must be zero cases of food poisoning,” he explained.
Finally, he also highlighted the need for improvements in the environmental management sector. Kholid emphasised that forest conservation must be properly safeguarded and that there should be no further incidents of forest and land fires.
“The Ministry of Forestry should be more vigilant and improve its forest management, whilst the Ministry of the Environment must be more vigilant regarding the protection of our forests,” he concluded.
At the same event, PKS President Al Muzammil Yusuf stated that the Constitutional Court’s (MK) ruling regarding Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming’s secondary school certificate must serve as a catalyst for evaluating the governance of the electoral system.
He emphasised that the Constitutional Court’s ruling implied a far greater issue, namely the existence of unfair treatment of the public.
“PKS views the ‘diploma gate’ controversy (involving Gibran) as a matter of public justice. There is unequal treatment within the law and the government,” he said.
Al Muzammil acknowledged that following the ruling, many members of the public have protested and approached the PKS, calling for the matter to be resolved and dealt with further through legal and constitutional channels.
He therefore assured that PKS is ready to act as a bridge for the public’s aspirations. PKS emphasised that the conduct of the general election must be truly honest and fair so that Indonesian democracy can move towards a meritocracy.
Al Muzammil stressed that every citizen should have an equal opportunity to lead, based on integrity and competence, rather than mere special dispensations.
“Every citizen has an equal opportunity to lead, based on integrity and competence, not special dispensations. The general election must be free, fair and transparent,” he emphasised.
The Constitutional Court (MK) read out its ruling on case number: 01/PHPU.PRES-XXIV/2026 concerning the Dispute over the Results of the 2024 Presidential and Vice-Presidential General Election on Tuesday (6 October) evening.
The MK ruled that the Petitioners lacked legal standing and were not authorised to disqualify Gibran Rakabuming Raka as Vice-President of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Petitioners in this case comprised the Independent Election Monitoring Committee (KIPP), the Ummat Party, former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Denny Indrayana, six citizens who are members of the Forum of Retired TNI Soldiers, M Subhan, Bonatua Silalahi, and Tiurma M.S. Sihombing.
Based on the facts revealed during the hearing, the Constitutional Court found no documents showing that Gibran holds a certificate proving he has completed overseas education equivalent to upper secondary school (SMA) or its equivalent.
