AfD confirms hacker attack on email accounts

Alice Weidel: E-mails of the party leader should also have been leaked

In a hacker attack, according to AfD information, alleged data from e-mail accounts of the party were captured. Unknown published on the Internet according to their own data, which is about 421,000 e-mails of the party. Whether these are authentic or not is still unclear. It is allegedly data from ten mailboxes, including an account in the name of the former AfD party leader Alexander Gauland and an account that was formerly named by the AfD as a contact for the Federal office.

The party confirmed that data were captured. “In September 2026, there was a hacker attack on a hosting service provider of our party, in which parts of a few mailboxes – most of which had not been used for years – were illegally copied,” the AfD said on request. Previously, the “image” had reported. Accordingly, e-mails have also been published, which should come from the party leader Alice Weidel, but probably not her own e-mail account was hacked. Current e-mail inboxes of the AfD-Bundesverband have not been affected according to the party.

The AfD further stated that the attack was quickly recognized and ended. All users were informed accordingly. “The online publication that has now taken place is probably part of this data will be examined,” it said. An initial assessment of this can only be given after the completion of this examination.
