Astronomers Find a strange star in green for the first time

Astronomers identified the first green star, the white toddler WD J1330 + 6435, which changed colors after swallowing the debris of the surrounding planet.

Astronomers Find a strange star in green for the first time

Astronomers for the first time identify a green star. The star is a white dwarf that turns into a green chartreuse, or yellowy, after swallowing the rock debris from the planets that used to poison it.

This star called WD J1330 + 6435 is in the Milky Way galaxy, about 280 light years from Earth in Draco, quoted Reuters, Friday (16 / 10).

"We were first interested in this white chrysanthemum because the pieces of planet material had fallen onto its surface, enriching its outer layers with unsur-- elements including calcium, lithium, and particularly sodium," said Mark Hollands, astrophysicist University of Warwick, England, as well as the main author of the study that came up in the RAS Techniques and Instruments journal.

The color of the star is generally determined by the temperature, from orange to colder star to pale blue for the hottest one.

However, this is a different formula for white carbs, which is the core of the remaining low-mass stars that have run out of nuclear fuel and released the outer layers.

On a normal star, sodium absorbs a very specific length of orange waves, the same as orange that gives the typical light of sodium street.

According to the Hollands, these white catfish density is so high that sodium atoms keep getting hit by helium atoms and their energy levels change.

"Ultimately, sodium atoms no longer absorb a very narrow length of orange waves; they absorb the length of yellow, orange, and partly red. What's left is a star with a beautiful brass green beam, something impossible to happen to a star like the Sun," the Hollands.

Boris Gänsicke, an astrophysicist at the University of Warwick, who was also co-author of studies, explained to us the size of the Earth, but very dense, so a little bit of sodium just blocks a lot of orange light.

The researchers studied 151 white tassels in a radius of about 65 light years from Earth.

One of them, WD J1011 + 2845, shows the pink salmon most likely to be red among the known stars. The star in the Leo Minor constellation, which is 48 light years away, is coloured in carbon from its interior.

The color of the white capti is divided according to its atmospheric composition. The carbon-rich tend to be pink or purple, while the planets enriched debris is leaning yellow.

The white katai is lower with a mixed atmosphere of hydrogen and helium tend to be sian or pale blue. Overall, the color covers almost the entire spectrum.

"In the end, all of this was very similar to the coloring of a painter's palette. They start off with some basic color, mix it up to form whatever color they need for the painting. Take some of the colors that go into the mix, and the results will change," Gänsicke's mouth.
