Cheap Spectrum So Comdigy Weapons Push Expanding 5G

The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Compensities) put the cost of cheap frequency spectrum as one of the boosters of the 5G network expansion in Indonesia. The cost of this being judged could give the operator more space to invest in infrastructure.

Secretary General Komdigi Ishmael said the spectrum management needs to balance the country's acceptance, investment skills operators, and connectivity benefits for society.

"Spectrum is not just about how the government earns income from its use, but also about making sure the spectrum utilization costs remain affordable. That way, the entire operator can build and develop the infrastructure as soon as possible," Ishmael said in his statement, Monday (19 / 10).

According to Ishmael, the government has changed the approach to frequency spectrum management in the last five to seven years. Spectrum is not seen as a source of acceptance of the state, but also an instrument to speed up the development of digital infrastructure.

He called that change seen at the latest spectrum auction that uses relatively affordable prices. That policy is graded to give the operator a chance to continue the network development investment.

"I think the entire operator now has enough space to build a 5G network," he said.

Ishmael explained the availability of telecommunication infrastructure is a preregative for digital transformations. An adequate connectivity needs to be available before people can use various digital services efficiently.

"Over 98 percent of Indonesia has been connected to the 4G network. 5G development is also going very fast. Therefore, the spectrum frequency issue becomes very important," the tour.

In addition to the ability of the operator to build the network, Ishmael emphasized the importance of paying attention to infrastructure benefits for society. According to him, spectrum policy is not enough just to consider industrial profitability, but it should also answer public needs.

The government has also been called will continue to provide spectrum allocation for operators to support the development of telecom technology.

Ishmael said that policy needs to consider the industry's needs in the long run because infrastructure development requires huge capital and a short time.

"The keyword we need to note is sustainability. The infrastructure development takes a long time and a great investment. Therefore, sustainability is one of the most important aspects," retrieve it.
