BNPB Use Dry Ice
BNPB with TNI and Polri handle forest fires with dry ice technology to reduce smoke fog.
National Catastrophe (BNPB) with the ministry, TNI, Polri, and local authorities continue to deal with forest fires and land fires. The BNPB propped dry ice to parse carhutla smoke fog to increase visibility.
"According to BNPB data per 19 October 2026, total carhutla handling targets in 6 priority provinces include an area of 1.024.33 acres (ha). Of those, the combined teams had successfully put out 454.25 ha, while 570.08 ha were still in the process of blackout and cooling," said the Plt.
Berton says the details of the blackout in 6 provinces of that priority include Central Kalimantan with the target handling 452.49 ha has gone dark 63.10 ha; it hasn't gone dark 389.39 ha. South Sumatra, the target handling 401.67 ha and has been extinguished 293.17 ha, while the unextinguished 108.50 ha.
In the Jambi area, target handling 96.50 ha. The land of 32.00 has been extinguished and has not been extinguished. South Kalimantan, target handling 58.45 ha. The area area has been shut down 50.95 ha, while 7.50 has not been extinguished.
West Kalimantan, target handling 11.92 ha. The land that has been extinguished is 11.73, and it hasn't turned off 0.19 In Riau County, target handling 3.30 ha. The whole lot of affected land has been wiped out.
"As the early entrance of BMKG's predicted rainy season began to take place gradually in the prioritized province, Riau since September, Jambi, South Sumaton, Central Kalimantan, and West Kalimantan in October through November, and South Kalimantan in November to December, the burden of carhutla handling operations was expected to be less and less," he said.
In addition to 6 priority provinces, carhutla is also handled in several other areas with a total area of burning land expected to reach 572.90 ha. As many as 107.77 has been successfully extinguished, so the area area is still in intensive care remaining at 465,13 ha.
In the East Kalimantan region and the lKN area, the area burned to the ground. 97.77 ha.
"Central Jawa, particularly in Karangayar District, carhutla hit a thorny and steep slope with a vast, erratic wind barrier," said Berton.
He also outlined the burning fields in other areas. In Maluku North 179.13 ha, Lampu (TN Way Kambas) 31 ha, Arkwesi West (Mamuju County) 20 ha (ablaze of 10ha), left of Buana Milky Village, Kec. West Java (Duang Sand, Garut)
Berton said the government implemented dry-ice-based weather modification technology to degrade the accumulation of smog and increase visibility in operation forest fires and land.
"This weather modification operating technology utilizes dry ice or solid carbon dioxide with extreme minus 78.5 degrees Celsius emitted from planes in inversion layers at 5,000 to 7,000 feet. The rapid cooling of the atmosphere until it reaches minus 75 degrees Celsius, making the air more unstable, so that the previous carhutla smoke is trapped in the lower layer can be pushed up and spread extensively," Berton definitely.
Berton said the dry ice test results increased visibility. A funeral was made in Palembang.
"The results of the OMC dry ice trials began to show increased visibility. In the area of Sultan Mehmet Badurudin II Palembang, the supplying of 3 millimeters of dry ice pellets on October 16, 2026 increased visibility over the conditions before the harvest (October 15, 2026)," said Berton.
Berton called for air surgery with dry-ice technology to be conducted through the collaboration of the National Disaster Reinforcements Agency (BNPB), TNI, and BMKG in the Southern Sumatera area since October 16, 2026 using the Casa 212 REG. The similar steps were also officially expanded to Central Kalimantan starting October 19, 2026 by mobilizing a flight of Casa 212-200 / A- 2107.
"Against the public's reports of the discovery of dry-ice materials which have fallen at the residence of citizens, the BNPB directly performed a standard operational evaluation. The flight team has now tightened the screening procedure by putting a special filter into the funnel and breaking dry ice into fine pellets before it's spread out to evaporate in the air,
Berton added that the application of dry ice completes the total looting of 49 national air fleets covering 32 units for water bombing or booting water and 17 units of patrol and OMC planes across the region. In addition to air operations, he said, carhutla handling in six priority provinces is also reinforced by over 60 thousand combined personnel on land lines.
"Through the combination of air and land handling, the burned areas that were successfully extinguished in the priority province have reached 454.25 hectares. People are supposed to keep masks on during their outdoor activities and not do any forest fires in order to keep the safety together," retrieve them.
