Michael Douglas Wants to Die Movie Death, But Marvel Won't Let Him
Hollywood star Michael Douglas just wanted to know what it felt like to be in a green screen movie. Now he has the salad.

There you are once curious, just want to try something new and already you have year-long work on the cheek. Who doesn't know? Hollywood star Michael Douglas, 82, has experienced it and now just wants to die – at least in his role as Dr. Henry »Hank« Pym in the Marvel universe.
Douglas is famous for films like "Wall Street" or "Basic Instinct". In 2010, Douglas fell ill with tongue cancer, underwent radiation and chemotherapy, and the tumor disappeared. Afterwards, as Douglas now tells in the podcast »Happy Sad Confused«, he had thought about what he actually wanted to do in life.
He said, “I’ve never been in a green screen movie.” So he told all his agents that he wanted to “play in one of these green screen movies to see what that’s like.” Because that's incredible. There you play in front of a green screen and at the end the pictures with computer effects would be inserted.
In fact, according to Douglas, the work turned out to be "hard acting". "Ant-Man" actor Paul Rudd was wonderful and the film ensemble was a nice group, so Douglas: "But you can't get out of it."
After »Ant-Man« Douglas played the physicist Hank in the second part »Ant-Man and the Wasp« in 2018. The request to let his character Hank die did not come to Marvel. “Actually, I would have been eliminated from the series after the second part, but they didn’t allow me to,” Douglas said on the podcast, laughing. So he also played in 2019 in Avengers: Endgame and in 2023 in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania again Hank.
From a simple-to-try-a-green-screen movie, four superhero films were made.
And Hank, by the way, is still not dead.
