Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres mentioned wildfires and land in Indonesia when talking about climate crisis.

In a statement on the Foreign Police Circle Talks held the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia, Guterres has now announced that there are several countries facing a climate-related disaster.

These countries are generally developing countries that are not widely represented in global institutions.

"We are witnessing the rising temperatures and disasters related to climate change that hit the developing countries, with the earliest and most severe impact, while the countries are getting a little help," said Guterres at the eight decades of the United Nations: What's Next?

Guterres continues that several countries today are also wrestling to anticipate the risk of the disaster and to survive a repeat disaster, including forest fires and land that Indonesia is experiencing.

"We also see countries struggling to anticipate risk and build resistance in the face of recurring disasters, such as floods, earthquakes, rising sea levels, and as Indonesia is very understanding, destruction of forest fires and volcanic eruptions that occur repeatedly," said the Guterres.

The Guterres talked about the weak role of global institutions in reflecting the needs of developing countries like Indonesia.

According to Guterres, it has a series of consequences, which is that it's difficult for countries to grow because of the height of debt, so it's difficult for them to deal with disaster.

Moreover, developing countries are also difficult to escape the effects of war and geopolitical rifts.

"The message is clear: we cannot risk facing a framed world. Instead, we need to work to create multipolarity that is interconnected, with multiple power centers that are supported by economic, political, social, and technology," said Guterres.

"I see Indonesia as one of the centers in the network, and we have to recognize one more reality: the multipolar world is demanding that multi-lateral institutions be effective and representative,".
