The latest Sony Walkman, Tempis Disrupt Rumors Dead

Sony released the latest Walkman premium, NW-WM1ZM3, with gold plated and promising better quality of sound. This launch has turned up rumors among some users that the iconic music player will be terminated.

The rumor arose after Walkman's previous shipment of models ended this summer, quoted by Asian Nikkei, Saturday (17 / 10).

NW-WM1ZM3 sold in Japan starting November 27 at a price of about 655,000 yen or Rp74.8 million (Kurt Rp14.2). This model targets music and audiophyil fans.

In the United States, Sony Electronics has booked an NW-WM1ZM3 for US $5.899 or Rp106.5 million.

The real Walkman was never shot to death. This music player was first sold in Japan in July 1979, and Sony called this launch as a premiere of Walkman.

NW-WM1ZM3 is the successor of NW-WM1ZM2 released in Japan in March 2022 at about 400,000 yen or Rp45.7 million.

The behind NW-WM1ZM3 is now using gold-plated oxygen-free copper, which is highly conductive, replacing aluminum. This material shift allows transmission of a more delicate electrical signal.

Before, it was only used in the main chassis. Now the screws are also lined with gold to reduce the noise.

This model also uses two capacitors for power supply, replacing one capacitor in the previous model, so the transition from high-frequency to low-low is more subtle.

According to Nikkei, this new Walkman is also able to convert digital audio to streaming music into analog sounds that are closer to the original footage. This technology was previously only available to downloaded music.

In his official description, Sony called NW-WM1ZM3 a 5.5-inch screen and battery holding up to 35 hours for MP3 playback 128 kbps with balanced connections.

Besides NW-WM1ZM3, Sony also released NW-WM1AM3 and NW-ZX900. In Japan, they are both sterilized by about 347,000 yen (Rp39.6 million) and 215,000 yen.

In the U.S., NW-WM1AM3 sold US $2,999.99 (Rp54.2 million), while NW-ZX900 US $1,899.99 (Rp34.3 million).

According to Sony, the two models also wear the rear sassis of gold-free copper. NW-ZX900 is given a 5-inch screen and a battery up to 40 hours for MP3 playback 128 kbps.

In Europe, NW-WM1ZM3 and NW-WM1AM3 are scheduled to be available from November 2026 at a price of 4.999 or Rp101.4 million (Kurt Rp20.289) and euro 2,499 or Rp50.7 million.
