The third arrival of the Bankers and Tugboat at RI is coming down

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - national shipyard industry faces a change in demand as the mining sector weakens. The bond between ship Industries and Sarana off the coast of Indonesia (Iperingo) revealed, the demand for ships for mining needs is down to 60%, so the industrial users began to divert production to meet the need for fuel transport.

General Chairman Iperindo Anita Salumi said, the ship's drop demand for the mining sector occurred from last year to this year. The conditions encourage the mining industry to adjust production to the growing market needs.

"If for mine to drop to 60% today. Last year until this year fell to 60% of mine. Now switching to logistics transportation, BBM, fuel," Anita said when she was found at the Ministry of Industry Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (20 / 10 / 2026).

According to Anita, those changes are also visible from the kind of ships that are now widely built by national shipyards. If before production is dominated by ships to support mining activities, such as barge and tugboats, now the need for fuel is increasing.

"If last year was a barge and a tugboat. But now it's because of the need for fuel. Yes, more dominated like tanker, mini tanker, SPOB. Now more there. So adjust to the market conditions," the audit.

These changes have allowed the shipping industry to adjust business strategy so that it can continue to tap into the available value. The tankers and BBM ships need to be one of the opportunities in the middle of a weak demand from the mine sector.

Anita mentioned that Iperindo members have a development capacity of about 1,200 new ships a year. The ships can meet the needs of various users, from government, BUMN to private companies.

In addition to building a new ship, the slush industry also has the capacity to repair and treat the ship. This ability is rated essential to support the operational fleet of the national ocean, including the ship used in logistics and energy distribution.

On the other hand, the government is pushing the reinforcement of the national shipping industry through increasing production and sales capacity for the shipyards. The Ministry of Industry also set up a map of the passage of the shipping industry period 2026-2030, with a target shipyard outside Java and Batam were able to build ships up to 30,000 deadweight tonnage.

Meanwhile, tanker development capacity is targeted to 60,000 DWT; development is expected to strengthen the domestic industry's ability to meet the needs of the national fleet, including the fuel transporter.
