U.S. Vice President JD Vance Ugah Support Netanyahu, breaking up congress with Trump?
U.S. Vice President JD Vance does not support Netanyahu before Israel's elections, unlike Trump. Vance is focused on U.S. political candidates only.
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Vice President of the United States (US) JD Vance chose not to declare support against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to return to office. This attitude differs from the recent President Donald Trump in favor of Netanyahu before Israel's elections.
In an interview with a reporter on the Air Force Two plane on Monday, Vance confirmed he would only support political candidates in the United States.
"I support American candidates, and that's what I focus on, which is part-time elections," Vance said, by CNN.
Even so, Vance made a different move earlier this year. He came to Budapest, Hungary, to support Viktor Orbán, the prime minister at the time who had Trump's support in the elections.
However, the long-standing Orbán lost the election.
Vance also confirmed his attitude was not to oppose Netanyahu, but he didn't want to publicly support the Israeli leader.
"I am not against giving support to him. I also do not support giving support to him. I will not interfere in Israel's elections,
Trump himself had the opportunity to refrain from declaring support to Netanyahu. In an interview with Time magazine earlier this month, Trump said, "I no longer engage in Israeli politics."
However, that attitude changed on Saturday. Trump publicly expressed his support to Netanyahu through the upload on social media. He calls the leader of Israel "The Great Minister of War."
Vance's decision not to follow Trump's lead appeared just days before Israel's election was held. The attitude was also in the spotlight because at the same time, U.S. Defense Minister Pete Hegseth made a surprise visit to Israel which was previously not publicly announced.
According to two sources who knew the matter and a U.S. official, a Hegseth visit took place when Israel's election was in the final stages.
An Israeli source who knows the details of the meeting and other sources who understand the agenda say that Hegseth met with Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Katz on Monday night.
