2nd Year Prabowo, WAKA MPR Praise Increations & Energy Transition Acceleration
Waka MPR Eddy Soeparno appreciation of President Prabowo's attention to clean energy resistance and energy transition, supporting the achievement of the 2060 Net Zero Emission.
Entering two years of President Prabowo Subianto's reign, the Vice Chairman of MPR RI of the Food Faction Eddy Soeparno appreciate the President's interest in strengthening energy resistance, energy transition acceleration, and handling climate change. According to Eddy, all three agendas have a strategic role in maintaining Indonesian energy independence.
Eddy assessed the government's attention on these three agendas is reflected in the direction of new and renewable energy development policies (EBT), including solar, bazu, water, and geothermal.
The development of these various energy sources became part of an effort to reduce fossil energy dominance gradually by constantly considering national energy needs, price outreach, and supply dependency.
According to him, energy resistance is an important part of national resistance. Therefore, he appreciates the President's interest in developing renewable energy and acceleration of energy transition, as well as emphasizing the importance of maintaining public and industry's energy needs.
"Therefore, I appreciate President Prabowo's interest in renewable energy development and energy transition acceleration. We need to make sure that people's energy needs and industry remains met, while clean energy utilization continues to be consistently increased," Eddy's word in writing, Tuesday (20 / 10 / 2026).
As the effort to increase that clean energy utilization, Eddy assessed the phasing out strategy or gradually reduction in fossil energy is an appropriate approach to Indonesia.
According to him, the transition of energy has to be done gradually and measured. The national energy structure that is still dominated by fossil energy allows the transition process to require long-term planning, major investments, technology readiness and support infrastructure development.
"We can't possibly change the national energy structure that has been dominated by fossil energy in such a short time. What we need to make sure is that the direction of change is clear, the target is measured, and every stage of operation brings us closer to a clean, independent, sustainable energy system," the tour.
One of the steps Eddy's interest in accelerating the transition of energy is the development of solar power plants. According to him, the plant's development target needs to be supported by accelerating projects, reinforcing network transmission, and energy storage development.
"President Prabowo in March 2026 has confirmed the target of the solar power plant to 100 GW.
In addition to the development of solar power, the planning of national electricity is also an important part in increasing clean energy capacity.
He highlighted the Power Supply Plan (RUPTL) PLN 2025-2034 that targeted the additional plant capacity of 69.5 GW, with 42.6 GW, among which were planned to come from EBT and development of energy storage by 10.3 GW.
Eddy assesses the target to be followed by consistent implementation so that a clean energy capacity can strengthen energy resistance as well as support the decline of emissions. He also highlighted the national EBT reserve level by 15.75 percent by 2025, with the capacity attached to 15,630 MW.
According to him, it became an early capital to expand renewable energy utilization. Further development needs to support investment increase, simplify the permit process, regulatory certainty, as well as collaboration between government and private sector.
"These figures show that renewable energy development continues to run and still has enormous growth spaces. We need to accelerate the utilization of solar, water, bayu, and Earth's heat, and make sure that this transition provides economic benefits through investments, jobs creation, and industrial reinforcement," he said.
Eddy also appreciates the government's efforts in strengthening the handling of climate change. According to PAN's Vice Chairman, the reduction of emissions needs to run along with the adaptation measures towards the impact of climate change, the protection of forests, the control of pollution, and the increase of public resistance to climate-related disasters.
To support such efforts, Eddy assessed the strengthening of the legal framework of climate change is an important step.
According to him, climate change handling requires the commitment of cross-sector and strong lawsuits. Therefore, he prompted that the drafting agenda of the Justice Climate Change Management bill soon reached an agreement and approved the House.
"I appreciate trying to strengthen the fabric of climate change regulation. In the future, we need to make sure that the policy of mitigation, adaptation, climate funding, and community protection is properly integrated in the national planning system," in effect.
Eddy insists that strengthening energy resistance, acceleration of energy transitions, and handling climate change needs to run along with Indonesian commitments reaching the Zero Emission Net in 2060 or earlier.
According to him, to support that target's achievement, consistency in the direction of policy, strengthening clean energy investment, and the involvement of the entire economic sector in emissions needs to continue to be maintained.
"President Prabowo's government shows strong determination to encourage decarbonization of the Indonesian economy gradually and inevitably. We need to keep the consistency in the direction of policy, strengthen clean energy investments, and make sure the entire economic sector takes part in the decline of emissions," harvesting Eddy.
