List of 10 Companies Allegedly Linked to Forest and Land Fires in Indonesia

Singapore’s National Environment Agency (NEA) has released a list of 10 companies suspected of being involved in forest and land fires in a number of regions in Indonesia. All ten companies are based in Indonesia.

In a statement on Monday (19 October), the NEA stated that there are three further Indonesian companies suspected of being involved in forest and land fires, the smoke from which is believed to have reached Singapore.

These three companies add to the list of Indonesian companies suspected of being involved in forest and land fires, which was also revealed by the NEA on Friday (16 October).

The NEA identified the alleged involvement of these companies based on the findings of an investigation conducted under the Transboundary Haze Pollution Act.

“The NEA remains committed to taking enforcement action against companies found to be responsible for causing transboundary haze in Singapore,” said

A notice issued by Singapore itself will require companies to deploy firefighting teams to extinguish fires and prevent the spread of fire on land they own or control.

Companies are also urged to cease burning activities, refrain from starting new fires, and submit an action plan to the NEA detailing the measures taken to extinguish and prevent fires.

Singapore’s Minister for the Environment, Grace Fu, said on Monday that three new companies identified by Singapore are located in Kalimantan.

Grace also said that the seven companies previously named have not yet responded to the NEA.
