Pertamina and the Key Expansion Preserve Energy
Pertamina's efforts in strengthening national energy resistance are carried out through ongoing exploration and production of migas.
The effort to strengthen national energy resistance continues through massive and sustainable exploration and production of migas. Exploration activities are an important strategy to find new reserves to maintain continued energy supply as well as to support the rising target of national oil and gas production.
Independent Commissioner PT Pertamina (Cheryl) Raden Adjeng Sondaryani on the Police Series theme: "Emergency Expedition Emergency, Commence for National Energy Endurance" in Jakarta, Wednesday (14 / 10) delivered to increase volume backup migas requires a breakthrough such as exploration in a frontier area or deep water and a new potential reserve of gas.
At the same forum, the National Energy Council Coordinator Satya Widdha has delivered the need to increase exploration, new backup discoveries, and optimization of oil production.
'In addition, it takes the urgency of exploration acceleration, development of new gas fields, and strengthening infrastructure to maintain a national gas supply, 'said Satya.
PT Pertamina Hulu Energy (PHE) as part of PT Pertamina (brasero) also continues to strengthen the strategy of keeping oil and gas from the natural decline in production of the exhibition area.
PHE also continues to expand the exploration portfolio through the acquisition of new area of labor and cooperation with strategic partners.
The director of the PHE Example of the Arifin Samsul revealed that the move was made to anticipate the decline of natural production at the same time opened the possibility of discovering new resources.
Acep says exploration is a long-term investment in industrial sustainability upmigas.
"Through expanding the area of work, strengthening collaboration with global partners, as well as the application of advanced exploration technologies, we continue to build quality portfolio to improve the possibility of discovery of new migas resources. This move becomes part of the PHE commitment in supporting the resilience and independence of national energy," said the Acep in writing.
In the last five years, PHE expanded the area of operations through the acquisition of new work areas as well as the execution of joint studies with a number of international energy companies.
Until July 2026, PHE has had 12 joint studies, with 10 studies still running, one study finished, and one study awaiting government approval.
That cooperation involves a number of global partners. In addition, during 2023-2026 PHE obtained eight new working areas of exploration in Indonesia, Bunga, the Fugam Fairy, East Natuna, Tingati, Binaiya, Lavender, Bobara, and North Ketapang.
PHE has also acquired a region of exploration in Malaysia, the 510 Sk-Block.
Acep says the expansion of the area of work and cooperation with global partners becomes part of the PHE effort to build sustainable exploration portfolio.
According to S & P Global 2026 period 2021- 2025, the PHE is listed as the National Oil Company (NOC) with the largest addition of the largest new exploration area in the world, to over 90 thousand square kilometers.
The economy of Gadjah University of Mada (UGM) Fahmy Radhi assesses PHE has done quite a lot of effort from technology use to exploration in the midst of a huge downfall of natural production for the upstream industry.
"Yes, I think there's enough effort to be made. For example, the use of EOR technology, then also exploration in old wells," Fahmy told CNN Indonesia a while ago.
Fahmy also encouraged drilling and exploration in areas that still have potential.
"The use of advanced technology in difficult areas, there is still hope. It's hard because it needs a sizeable investment,
Meanwhile, the University of Energy Economics Observatory of Yayan Satyakti says the Pertamina-related step in production has been correct.
In the midst of the challenge of a 24 percent natural decline of oil well, Pertamina thinks it can still maintain its oil production.
It is according to Yayan not to escape the new exploration of the well-well. For example, two offshore development wells in the Square, East Kalimantan that could add 1,865 bph. Then on the old field of PHR Zone 4, 27 development wells add an extra 1,549 bph oil.
Yayan says assuming that evenly each well can produce about 57 bph, it takes hundreds of new development wells to combine the trend of natural decline.
"Exactly the scale of 887 wells indeed worked by PHE in 2025," said Yayan.
Pertamina's hard work to produce oil in hundreds of wells is to keep the supply available.
"Mandatory development drilling continues, without production collapsing," said Yayan.
Meanwhile, the Corporation Secretary PHE Hermansheah Y Nassaen says the company also continues to run various strategies to improve field productivity and maintain production.
Today, PHE contributed 65 percent to national oil production and 35 percent to national gas production. The company also operates 27 percent of the block of migas in Indonesia.
The PHE continues to strengthen performance through various strategic programs to increase production and reserve migas.
The attempt was focused on revitalizing the existing asset, the greenfield development, the Enhanced Oil Reavery, the exploration of conventional or unconventional migas, fical optimization, and the development of Carbon Capture and Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCS / CCUS) technology.
"In the midst of a growing natural decline challenge, we were able to maintain the growth of production through field development aggressively, the application of technology, the ongoing exploration, as well as the superior operating management," Hermansyah in openings..
