Japan Prepare to Launch Mission to Mars Moon

Japanese scientists are preparing to go on a Mars-month mission, and this mission is to take samples that are thought to help uncover the origin of the solar system and life on Earth.

This mission with the Martian Moons Exploration mission is the first travel mission to go to Mars, and it's a collaboration project with U.S. and Europe's space agencies, and different universities and technology companies.

According to the Japanese Space Exploration Agency (JAXA), the H3 power rocket carrying MMX is scheduled to launch from the Tanegashima Space Center on Tuesday (20 / 10) at 04.41 am local time.

The spacecraft will arrive near Mars one year later. There, it will orbit one of the moons of Mars, the Phobos, for up to three years, before landing and gathering at least 10 grams of material from the surface.

An explorer named IDEFIX inspired by the dog's name Asterix comic figure, will perform a surface observation to ensure a safe landing.

"The sample taking from the Phobos is of course the first in the world, and this means... this is the first trip home to the Mars system," said the manager of the MMX project, Yasuhiro Kawakatsu, as FFP reported.

JAXA states that this mission will also result in the possibility of the use of the Phobos as a "natural space station" by setting the requirements necessary for home travel - going to Mars and being considered "very important to manned Mars exploration."

This mission will also observe Deimos, the other Martians. But this mission will not land on that moon, then return to Earth.

JAXA wishes this mission could uncover how Mars and both moons formed, a knowledge that was considered key to understanding the origin of the solar system.

One of the theories of Mars's monthly motion is known as the "giant collision" hypothesis states that these months formed after a celestial object crashed into Mars.

Meanwhile, the hypothesis "arrest" suggests that these months are asteroids trapped by Mars gravity.
