Trump's Words Support Netanyahu: I Want You To Stay With Me · Global Voices
President Donald Trump, has been seen proclaiming support for PM Benjamin Netannahu before Israel's election on October 27.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, was seen proclaiming support against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the wake of the Israeli elections on October 27.
Netanyahu used that moment to get the votes by releasing video of both of their phone conversations to the public.
In the video released on Monday (19 / 10), Trump predicts Netanyahu will achieve a great victory. He also referred to the Israeli leader as the figure he wanted to be by his side.
"I think you will achieve a remarkable victory," Trump said over the phone speaker, as reported AFP.
"You're the one I want to stay with, Aunt," said Trump, referring to the nickname Netanyahu.
Netanyahu then praised Trump for joining Israel in launching an attack on Iran in February.
He said they had work to do together, without explaining the details of the statement.
"Donald, we have work to do. We'll finish it together. We will finish it, and no other party will do it," said Netanyahu.
Netanyahu once again referred to Iran as "the greatest threat" to Israel. The country that implemented the theocratic government system still survived almost eight months after the US-Israeli combined attack.
In another video recorded on an air base, Netanyahu said he had obtained assurance of Israel's ability to attack his enemies whenever needed.
In a phone conversation with Trump, Netanyahu also mentioned the possibility of expanding the "Abraham Accord" or the Abraham Treaty. The deal that started in 2020 paved the way for Israel's normalization of Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco.
Netanyahu called Trump "the best friend Israel ever had."
Since his first term, Trump took a number of policies supporting Israel, including moving the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The move reaped the rejection of many parties because the status of Jerusalem is still part of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Most countries do not recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Trump's support for Netanyahu appeared after the relationship between the two leaders had a moment of tension regarding the US-Israel war against Iran.
Netanyahu has long wanted the US president to invade Iran, but, in April, Trump changed the direction of his policy and reached a truce deal with Tehran, although now the Swiss-Iranian negotiations are falling apart.
A number of polls show Trump's support levels in Israel are falling apart after the development.
The Axios report on Tuesday (20 / 10) called the US Defense Minister, Pete Hegseth, met with Netanyahu in Israel the day before also triggered speculation about the possibility of a new U.S. attack on Iran.
The Pentagon refused to comment on the meeting reports.
Meanwhile, Israeli newspaper Hayom reports that Trump's government urged Netanyahu to form a new government without involving any of his right-wing allies. The group is known to support the settlers' movement in the West Bank and call for the eviction of all Palestine from Gaza.
The U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, denied the report.
According to Israel Hayom, modern new governments can open up opportunities for Israel to normalize relationships with more Arab and Islamic countries.
