Hard work
The BNPB continues to put out wildfires with weather modification operations.
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The National Countermeasure of Disaster (BNPB) revealed will continue to put out forest fires and land (carhutla) so that the impact doesn't expand.
Task worker (Plt.) Head of Data, Information, and Communication Hate BernPB Panitans said one attempt to put out any remaining carhutla is by way of the weather modification operation (OMC).
As of Monday (19 / 10 / 2026) yesterday, BNPB did an OMC of 2 sortie 1,800 kg NACl (salt) in West Kalimantan, 5 sortie 1,600 kg of milk and 300 kg of salt in Central Kalimantan, 2 sortie 2,000 pounds of salt in South Kalimantan, as well as 3 sortie 1,600 kg of rice and 800 pounds of salt in South Sumatra.
"As for OMC in Riau, it's over in September 25, 2026, because there is a natural rain already happening, whereas in Jambi we can't do OMC because there are no clouds and there are relatively low visibility," said Berton in the press conference updates on disaster developments in Indonesia, Tuesday (20 / 2026).
His subjects have also prepared the personnel and fleet of helicopters and other fleets to help put out the carhutla in some still-impacted areas.
For personnel, the BNPB prepares 60.177 personnel with a day-night shift system to maintain stamina personnel.
"We can tell you that in West Kalimantan there are 14,458 people, in South Kalimantan, 7927 people, in Riau there are 14,837 people, while in Central Kalimantan there are 4,686 personnel, South Sumatra is 122,285 personnel, while Jambi has 5.984 people," bright Berton.
From the number of fleets, BNPB mobilized 17 OMC patrol units and 32 water booing helicopters (WB), so that the total reaches 49 fleet units, with the most mobilized to put out the carhutla in West Kalimantan, which is 10 units.
"We now have 49 units ready to work if possible weather modification or atmosphere. We need to say that our fleet is always flexible, considering when in West Kalimantan for example 10 units are needed in Central Kalimantan, of course it can shift, as well.
To quote predictions from the Meteorological Agency, climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG), BNPB says some areas in Indonesia are predicted to start raining.
In Riau, the beginning of the monsoon was predicted on the second week of September through the second week of October with normal intensity above normal. Whereas in Jambi it was predicted in the third week (Dasarian III) October through the second week of November with normal intensity.
"In southern Sumatra we also hope that in Dasarian III October will start to rain, it will also spread to several places until Dasarian III November, it is potentially normal rain above normal. In South Kalimantan we hope to Dasarian I or in early November will start raining naturally until December III," reveal Berton.
Next South Kalimantan rain predicted on Dacarian I November through Darraian III December with normal intensity, California was predicted on Dasarian II October to the Dasarian III November with normal intensity above normal, and West Kalimantan predicted to descend on Dainarian II October until Dasarian II November with normal intensity.
