152 Climbers were evacuated during Mount Subbing Fire

152 mountain Subbing climbers were successfully evacuated during the forest fires and land (carhutla) in the area.

Wonosobo Police ensures all climbers have been evacuated and no one is left behind.

Police Chief Wonosobo AKBP Ricky Pripurna Atmaja said the confirmation was obtained after a joint team received a report from Basecamp of the Monastery Elephant at Lamuk Village, Calcajar, on Monday at 23.30 P.B. All the climbers who went down were then matched with registration data.

"Thank God, of 152 climbers, everything is down. Once we cross-reference it with the registration data, there's nothing missing. All the climbers are healthy and no one has been injured or injured," he said, Tuesday (20 / 10).

In the evacuation process, the Wonosobo Police are coordinating with a combined team involving Basarnas, BPBD, Pumsmas Kalikapar, management of the basecamp, PMI, and other associated elements. The safety of the climbers becomes a top priority in handling the situation.

Ricky explained, one of the steps of the mitigation was to close the trail of Mount Subbing through a number of basecamps. The coordination is also established with the Temperature Police and Polresta Magenge to apply closure across the related area, considering the climbing area is in different legal areas.

The combined team set up a command-and-control post at the Monstrous Elephant Basecamp. The posko serves as a control coordination center, monitoring information, as well as the acceptance of complaints from climber families.

In support of the evacuation process, the combined team with BPBD is preparing emergency measures. Forty base ranger personnel are deployed to pick up climbers until Post III.

The extraction process takes time and extra power. The journey from Post III to the basecamp is estimated to take approximately six hours, while the slippery path conditions add a challenge to officers in the field.

Despite facing a number of obstacles, the climbers managed to get down safely. Ricky again confirmed that the safety of climbers became the primary focus of officers during carhutla handling.

"For now, the entire climber is safe. Our priority is to ensure their safety first. Various steps of mitigation and cross-region coordination have been made to prevent greater risk," he said.

Meanwhile, forest fires and land in the mountain Subbing region are still not out. Ricky said fire control will continue to coordinate with related agencies, including the police, to gain further support.
